Description
The Lead Machine Technician is responsible for ordering three models of digital talking book machines (DTBM) – DS1, DA1, and DA2 – as well as two models of braille eReaders – ZooMax (EBZ) and HumanWare (EBH) – from the National Library Service (NLS) and maintaining a ready inventory of these items for delivery to patrons. The position orders and maintains an inventory of machine accessories, batteries and spare parts to ensure smooth operation of repair and distribution of machines. This often involves telephone contact with NLS and the NLS Multi-State Centers. The position has primary responsibility for repair and refurbishment of DS1, DA1, DA2, EBH, and EBZ machines returned by patrons. This often involves considerable troubleshooting of hardware, software and battery issues with these machines. The Lead Machine Technician will also provide technical support to patrons regarding the DA2 and EBH machines’ Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Qualifications
•Basic knowledge of electronics repair
•Basic knowledge of tools required for electronics repair (multimeter, soldering iron, battery conditioner, etc.)
•Basic knowledge of digital logic and computer troubleshooting routines
•Ability to work with small parts, disassemble and reassemble machines
•Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures
•Ability to work independently, organizing tasks and setting work priorities
•Ability to work successfully as part of a team, using courtesy and tact in all interactions
•Ability to drive a 2.5-ton box truck

$47,110.00 / Annually
