Description: This position is located at the Headquarters Library and acts as primary assistant to the technical services manager; may regularly act as Team Lead in absence of department manager. Responsible for overseeing the general workflow of the department’s acquisitions and processing duties and tracking outstanding orders. Employee maintains accurate financial records, copies and edits catalog records for the Integrated Library System (ILS) and supervises adult and juvenile paperback standing orders as well as direct orders and cancellations. Tracks grant funds for the collection development division. Copies bibliographic records (various formats) from OCLC (Online Computer Library Center – a bibliographic repository for libraries around the world), applies locally established edits, assigns Dewey Decimal classification number, and downloads into the library’s ILS (Integrated Library System). Oversees and coordinates the department’s daily workflow; ensuring materials are received, invoiced, paid, processed, and distributed in a timely manner.
Qualifications: Master of Library Science Public library cataloging experience and knowledge of Evergreen ILS preferred Trainee applicants must have completed at least 75% of MLS coursework. Letter from the library school dean with the number of credit hours obtained ensuring the candidate can complete all master’s degree requirements within 12 months.
