Our library is seeking to fill a Librarian I position for small business and nonprofit community clients. Essential tasks include services to adults, reference services, in person, in print, by phone and email. Our librarians offer assistance with a variety of technology devices. They help in planning and providing public programs and events. Librarians network and develop working partnerships within the Greater High Point community. Our librarians assist, as requested, in providing training for staff and the public in using a variety of digital databases, other software applications including preparing written materials, and giving oral presentations. Tasks also include collection development and evaluation within the circulating nonfiction collection, taking responsibility for daily operation of a variety of division operations, in consultation with the supervisor on duty as needed, monitoring equipment, photocopiers and other technologies in the Research division.
Qualifications
An MLIS degree from ALA accredited institution is required, along. Eligible for NC public librarian certification; Have prior library reference, technology, programming and outreach work experience; Applicants must have or be eligible to obtain a valid NC driver's license; Must have solid customer service skills, communication skills and a strong desire to interact with and help people; Be a solid library team player, maintain a positive customer service and work environment; Possess solid database navigation skills using business and nonprofit resources or be willing to learn business and nonprofit database navigation; Be proficient with computers, and other trending technologies.
