Description: The Genealogy Librarian at the City of High Point provides patron assistance with family research, collects and maintains genealogical resources, and offers programming and instruction on research methods and local history. This role involves expertise in navigating databases and historical records, teaching information literacy for genealogy, and collaborating with community groups to promote library services. Key duties include reference services, indexing, cataloging, and community outreach to meet the needs of researchers.
Qualifications: Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution. The applicant must have a Valid driver's license. Must be proficient in the use of computers and software applications, including word processing, data management, and database systems. The applicant must have 2-3 years of professional experience providing reference services or research assistance using genealogy, local history, archival resources, or primary historical documents. Prior experience managing genealogical databases tools such as census records, vital records, census indexes, family history sites, newspapers / obituaries, city directories, etc.
Salary: $47,914.88 - $61,391.20
