Description:
The Adult Services Librarian I at the Headquarters Library plays a key role in shaping community engagement. This dynamic position delivers library services and interacts with patrons at the Adult Services Desk. Creates impactful community programs and provides tailored instruction to address diverse interests and needs. Train the public in using library resources and equipment. This role also offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills by serving as Team Lead in the branch manager’s absence.
Trains the public in the use of library resources and equipment, including online catalog and databases.
Resolves intermediate customer complaints; refers more complex issues to branch manager or Adult Services Manager.
Provides in-depth readers’ advisory services. Staffs the online chat reference as assigned.
Prepares, markets, presents, and evaluates programming for adult and all-ages audiences, including book clubs and classes on computer skills for the public.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in library science.
Trainee applicants must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards an MLS and submit a letter from the dean of the library school that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all master’s degree requirements within twelve months.
Salary: $47,331.34/year
