Description: This position leads the development and implementation of library programming, including community outreach programming, book discussions, and DIY demonstrations, creating themed frameworks or initiatives for programming such as Adult Summer Reading. It will assist in marketing programming and actively identify and inform potential target audiences of new programming, provide reader's advisory and reference services to patrons, coordinate the Library’s adult literacy programming, including training new tutors and assessing and processing new and continuing students, and create passive programming and displays that engage library visitors. Other responsibilities include maintaining the collection by reading reviews, evaluating the current collection, administering and complying with budget parameters, suggesting improvements in library services based on professional reading, knowledge, and experience, analyzing usage data to make community-centered decisions, participating in committees both inside and outside the library, and performing outreach including public presentations to reinforce the value of the Library in the community.
Qualifications: An accredited Master's Degree in Library Science, NC Public Librarian Certification, and a North Carolina driver’s license acquired within 30 days of employment are required.
