Description:
Librarian Selectors work under the general direction of the Selection Manager to develop and maintain a popular, representative collection of over 1.7 million items. Each Selector works in a defined audience and subject area. In addition to ongoing book selection, this position works on selecting items for Opening Day collections for new and expanded library facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and select new print and Audio CD titles
Identify and select retrospective and replacement titles
Identify and select eContent (downloadable eBooks and eAudio)
Manage the creation of purchase orders in the ILS (catalog) for selected titles and monitor the progress through physical receipt of item, as well as manage the creation of catalog records to reflect local practices and standards
Identify and select Opening Day Collections for new and expanded facilities, ranging from 45,000-125,000 volumes per project
Participate in a variety of projects to support programs and services for WCPL
Qualifications:
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
No specific experience required
Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Working knowledge of Spanish
