Description: In a Community Library, Librarians develop, promote and present programs for young child through teens. All Young Child programs are based on the pre-literacy skills of Every Child Ready to Read. In addition, Librarians work on a public service desk providing excellent customer service. They assist members with reference, readers’ advisory, and technical assistance, and are responsible for the maintenance and merchandising of areas of the library collection. Librarians work in close collaboration with Library Managers and other Librarians who work within the same programming areas to collaborate and share ideas about programs. Key Responsibilities of a Youth Services Librarian: Plan, promote and present multiple weekly programs for children, teens and/or families Work directly with the public on service desk providing excellent customer service Position Description Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Library Manager Work with Library Assistants assigned to assist in the delivery of Librarian developed programs. 

Qualifications: Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program. No specific experience required. Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted.
