Librarian / Youth Services Book Selector - Wake County Public Libraries

Description: Working under the direction of the Selection Manager, the Youth Librarian/Selector manages the identification and research of potential new book purchases, retrospective titles, and eContent for various children’s book collections. Key Responsibilities include applying library knowledge and expertise in selecting titles to meet the reading needs of Wake County’s youngest residents; communicating and coordinating with book publishers and vendors to acquire Advanced Reading Copies, participating in webinars and training, and ensuring cataloging and processing adhere to WCPL standards; reviewing regular Collection Development reports concerning collection size, circulation, and turnover rates for their defined audience/subject area; and collaborating with support staff in daily tasks that facilitate the selection and receiving of WCPL books.

Qualifications: The requirement for this position is a Master's degree in Librarianship or a related field, such as MLS, MLIS, MIS, or ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program. While specific experience is not mandatory, it's important to note that equivalent education and experience are not accepted.
