Description: Authenticate and appraise historical documents and archival materials, preserve and maintain documents and objects, create and maintain computer archives and databases, organize archival records and create appropriate finding aids, safeguard records by creating film and digital copies, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Designees. The Library Archivist will handle a wide variety of materials, including documents, paintings, maps, and films. The Library Archivist is responsible for preserving materials correctly. They must be knowledgeable about conservation and storage techniques. The Library Archivist will design and maintain organizational systems to keep track of all archive materials. The Library Archivist will make records more available to the public through photocopies and scanned images. The Library Archivist will promote individual materials or collections, encouraging the public to visit the archives.
Qualifications: A master's degree in Library Science or History from an accredited college or university. At least two years related professional experience, preferably in a working archives, with five years’ experience in higher education. Two years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in higher education.
