Description: Provide customer service and clerical work at the circulation desk assisting the public. Work includes checking materials in and out, assisting patrons with locating materials, typing, filing, issuing library cards, collecting fees, preparing books for carts and shelving books, preparing materials for programs and displays, answering some reference questions, and assisting patrons in the use of various Library resources. Work involves accuracy and significant public contact. Employees specialize in work in one area, but must be able to answer questions about full Library services. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated for customer service effectiveness and accuracy through daily observations, discussions and review.
Qualifications: Graduation from High School, supplemented by courses in office practices and related clerical experience, including experience working with the public and experience working in a Library; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
