DESCRIPTION

Supports development, promotion, & facilitation of adult programs & events, & may independently lead or coordinate them. Under direct supervision of the Librarian II - Adult Services with oversight from Programming Team & Director. Requires availability on nights & weekends. Represents library at outreach events & helps create marketing materials while contributing to website & newsletter. Responsibilities include designing displays, staffing reference desks, maintaining Adult Dept, & overseeing the dept in Librarian’s absence. Provides direct customer service, offering information assistance, readers’ advisory, circulation support, & basic technology help, while also assisting with library projects, & custodial tasks as needed. It performs circulation duties such as answering phones, creating library cards, checking materials in & out, placing holds, & collecting fines. The position maintains supply inventory & upholds the Library’s Code of Conduct to ensure a safe & welcoming environment. This job description may be updated as organizational needs evolve.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma is required, while an associate’s degree is preferred. Public library experience is required for this position, including at least one year of working directly with adults ages 18 and older. Strong social media and technology skills are essential, and bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
