Description: The Early Literacy Specialist will work with the Youth Services Librarian to develop programs and services for young children and their caregivers. Duties will include planning and implementing age-appropriate programming with emphasis on early literacy; administrative support work (i.e. organizing materials, shelving, filling displays, assisting patrons with questions and accessing library collections, assisting with library equipment); assisting coworkers in other units of the library, making recommendations for changes to youth programming, serving as ambassador for the Chatham County Public Libraries at community events; other duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Qualifications: Associate Degree or higher in early childhood or elementary education, library youth services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Spanish/English bilingual speaker preferred.
