DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of Librarian I - Teen Services with oversight from Programming Team & Director. This position supports development, promotion, & facilitation of teen programs & events, & may independently lead or coordinate them. It represents the library at outreach events & assists in creating marketing materials. Responsibilities include designing displays, staffing reference desks, maintaining the Teen Dept, & overseeing the dept in the Librarian’s absence. Provides customer service, offering information assistance, readers’ advisory, & basic technology support. Assists with library projects, & custodial tasks. Additional duties include monitoring supplies, performing circulation tasks such as answering phones, creating library cards, checking materials in & out, placing holds, & collecting fines, & helping patrons with faxes, copies, & printing. The position maintains a safe & welcoming environment by upholding the Library’s Code of Conduct, & the job description may be updated as organizational needs evolve.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires availability on nights and weekends. A high school diploma is required, while an associate’s degree is preferred. Public library experience is required for this position, including at least one year of working directly with teens ages 13-18. Strong social media and technology skills are essential, and bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
