Library Director - Caldwell County Public Library

Description: An employee in this class plans and directs the County library services designed to meet the variety of community needs and interests. Work includes long and short range planning including facilities and technology expansion, establishment of goals, identification and development of funding sources, managing staff and capital facilities, fiscal planning and administration, collection development, management and administration of the daily operations, public relations activities and establishment of administrative policies, procedures, and work standards for library operations. Work requires significant scope in management of resources, physical facilities in multiple locations, technology and staff, trustee relations, and requires significant marketing and public awareness to produce effectiveness. Independent judgment and initiative are required, as well as tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the County Manager and is evaluated through conferences, analysis of program accomplishments and community service, and public feedback.

Qualifications: Master's degree in library and information science from programs accredited by the American Library Association, and considerable professional experience in library administration work including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. NC Public Librarian Certification.

Salary: $66,659.00
