DESCRIPTION
The Library Director will plan, organize, direct, evaluate, and review the county’s library resources, personnel, facilities, services and programs to respond to the needs of the community. Work is performed under the general supervision of the County Manager. The director will oversee the maintenance, safety, and utilization of library facilities, furnishings, equipment, and physical assets. The candidate will develop and sustain collaborative relationships with schools, businesses, community organizations, and government agencies.
The Director will guide long- and short-term planning efforts and develop, recommend, and manage the annual operating budget for the Jackson County Library and the Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in library science and considerable professional experience in library work including some managerial and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in library science from an accredited ALA library institution.
Possess a valid, State of North Carolina driver license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Notary Public certification required.
Possession or acquisition of a NC Public Librarian Certification from the State Library of NC required.
