The Town of Rutherfordton is seeking a forward-thinking, energetic, and community-focused Library Director to lead Norris Public Library into its second century of service. Position Summary
The Library Director is a vital member of the Town’s leadership team and reports directly to the Town Manager. This individual oversees all aspects of library operations, including:
• Strategic planning and program development
• Staff supervision and public service leadership
• Budget and facility management
• Community partnerships and foundation coordination
• Oversight of collections, technology, and programming

QUALIFICATIONS
Desired qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in library science, education, or a related field (required), with a Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution preferred. Candidates should have ALA certification or other continuing education credentials demonstrating professional growth, along with prior experience in public libraries or community-centered institutions. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills are essential, as is proficiency in emerging technologies, digital literacy, and innovative programming. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to build and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and civic groups.
SALARY
$55,000-$60,000 / Annually
