Description:
The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day operations of the Person County Public Library's initiatives that aim to meet the various needs and interests of the Person County community. Work includes long-term and short-term planning for facilities and technology expansion, establishing goals, identifying, and developing fund sources, fiscal planning and administration, collection development, management and administration of daily operations and public relation activities.
The Library Director supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. The position also participates in community activities and maintains contact with organizations and patrons in order to enhance library programs and services.
This job works under administrative supervision and reports directly to the Assistant County Manager, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through meetings, conferences, and reports.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library science or related discipline.
Six (6) years of public library experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
North Carolina Public Librarian Certification.
