Description: Under general supervision, performs work involving circulation, reader’s advisory, reference, and programming in a branch location of the County Library. Work involves checking library materials in and out; and assisting patrons with questions and/or problems regarding library services; providing reader’s advisory services to patrons, including knowledge of authors, genres and popular books; assisting library patrons in the use of a wide variety of reference materials and Internet resources; and assisting with the development and presentation of a variety of program activities for children, teens, and adults. Work is performed independently within established guidelines and requires significant technical and paraprofessional library knowledge and skill and creativity in work with patrons through program services. Reports to the Library Branch Manager.
Qualifications: Graduation from High School and experience working with the public in a Library setting; college degree preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License. Evening and weekend work required.
