Library Technician / Circulation - Person County Public Library

Description: Under general supervision of the Library Director, this position supports the overall all mission of the Person County Library by providing exceptional services to patrons, performing paraprofessional library tasks including technical and reference assistance, as well as specialized administrative tasks and other related tasks, as required. An employee in this class performs paraprofessional work requiring the application of current customer service techniques and appropriate library technology. Performs specialized administrative and technical work requiring the application of basic library work practices. May assist with processing and accessioning new books and other materials, selecting books, maintaining library displays, and covering and repairing books. The employee performs circulation duties checks books in and out; collects fines and provides receipts; provides reader’s advisory and assists with the use of the library’s catalog, computers and, other library equipment. Employee is responsible for compiling statistics, maintaining various records, and performing various administrative library duties, as needed.

Qualifications: Graduation from high school, some college coursework preferred, and 1-3 years of customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license. High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred. Customer service experience required.

Salary: $14.82 - $22.97 / hour
