The Library Technician is part of the UNCW Library User Services team. This position provides front line services for patrons at the UNCW Library Help Desk in order to access, discover, and utilize library resources. This position assists patrons in locating and accessing library resources, answers questions about the Library and the campus, provides basic reference assistance, and checks out/in library materials. In addition, this position maintains a thorough knowledge of circulation and library policies and interprets and enforces these policies as needed. This position is one of the primary openers for the Library Help Desk M-F. This position accurately collects library fines and fees and maintains accurate patron financial records. This position serves as primary point person responsible for stack maintenance to keep our physical collection organized, well-maintained and easily accessible to all users and assists with shelving materials. Additionally, this position assists with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience
Previous library experience:
Experience using an ILS system such as Sierra or Alma
Working knowledge of User Services processes such as check in/checkout, shelf reading, shelving, and inventory
Previous experience with stack maintenance planning and implementation
Experience with technology used in libraries

Salary: $41,585/year-$47,318/year
