New to NC: Accessible Books and Library Services

“New to NC” is a virtual series hosted by the State Library of North Carolina’s Government and Heritage Library, offering an array of topics catered to new North Carolinians.

This series provides information on a variety of subjects, including transportation, employment, housing, social services, tourism, recreation, art, music, cultural heritage, and much more. Each program aims to equip newcomers with useful insights and resources to help them make the most of their experience in North Carolina.

Our inaugural “New to NC” program features the State Library of North Carolina’s Accessible Books and Library Services (ABLS).  This special public library offers services tailored for North Carolinians unable to use standard print library resources due to physical, visual, or reading disabilities. During this session, ABLS staff will provide valuable insights about the important services they offer and will explain how to request the library’s resources and assistance for those seeking accessible materials in North Carolina.
