Description: Wake County Libraries is hiring a part-time (20 hrs. per week) Youth Librarian for the North Regional Library. Youth Services Librarians have the primary responsibility of providing programs and services to children and families. This part-time position will divide responsibility for programming for young children with another part-time Librarian. Librarians also work on a public service desk and assist members with reference, readers’ advisory, and technical assistance, and are responsible for the maintenance and merchandizing of areas of the library collection. Librarians have regular opportunity to meet with their peers to collaborate, share ideas, and work on system-wide initiatives. Key Responsibilities of a Youth Services Librarian: Plan, promote and present programs for children and families Collaborate with peers and managers to develop programs Work with Library Assistants assigned to assist in the delivery of Librarian developed programs Provide reference, readers' advisory, and basic online searching assistance.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program No specific experience required Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted.
