Part-Time Library Shelver - Main Branch, Iredell County Public Library

Description: An employee in this class provides clerical work at the Library’s headquarters facility or at a branch. Work involves sorting and shelving returned books and other items, examining library shelves to ensure books and other items are arranged in proper order, and assisting library users in locating items. Work involves accuracy and occasional public contact. Work is performed in an inside environment under regular supervision; other technical and professional employees are available to assist with unusual questions or situations. Work is evaluated for accuracy and customer service effectiveness of work activities through daily observations, discussions and review of completed work. Employee must exercise independent judgment in completing assigned tasks. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in contact with patrons and the public.

Qualifications: Graduation from High School including or supplemented by courses in office practices and some related clerical experience, including some experience working with the public and some experience working in a Library; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $10 / hour
