Description: The Reader Advisor works within the Reader Advisor Unit and provides reader advisory and basic reference assistance in a cooperative team environment. Key responsibilities include answering telephone calls and chat service messages from patrons, following daily schedule, assisting walk-in patrons as needed, selecting and assigning book titles most likely to interest the patron; using Keystone Library Automated System (KLAS) which includes reader profiles and library collection information; calling applicants to explain service options and eligibility requirements; updating patron reading profiles in automated system; acting as backup at reception desk as needed; and assisting with library programs and/or book discussions.
Qualifications: High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience working in either a bookstore or library setting, in customer service; and in Microsoft Office Suite software.
