Description: The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Library is currently accepting applications for a librarian position for a new library in Charlotte, NC. The Satellite Librarian reports directly to the Circuit Librarian and is a member of the Circuit Library’s team of librarians and support staff serving all judges and judiciary staff in the Fourth Circuit. The Satellite Librarian manages and maintains the Library in Charlotte, NC, providing all library services, information, and materials required by federal circuit, district, magistrate, and bankruptcy judges located in the Western District of North Carolina, as well as court staff, members of the bar, and the general public. Duties include performing legal and non-legal research and reference services. Providing education and training to staff on Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and other online legal research services. Assisting with public relations and outreach efforts. Contributing to newsletters, research guides, and web pages for patrons.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited school of Library or Information Science. One year of full-time specialized experience that provided an opportunity to acquire knowledge of the concepts, principles, policies, practices, and theories of library management. Proficiency using Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and other research sources.
