Technical Services Archivist for HRA and ADA - Duke University Libraries

Description: The Technical Services Archivist is responsible for all aspects of the arrangement and description of assigned archival collections, predominantly focusing on Human Rights Archives and Archives of Documentary Arts collections. The archivist will process archival materials in all formats, including collections with paper, photographs, born digital, and audiovisual materials. This is a 5-year term appointment. Master’s degree with a concentration in library science or archives from an ALA-accredited program; or advanced degree in history, literature, or a related field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. 

Qualifications: Experience working with archival collections in various formats in a university archives, special collections library, or government archives setting; familiarity with Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS) and MARC library descriptive standards; demonstrated analytical and writing skills; demonstrated proficiency using computer-based technology and ability to learn new technologies; flexibility and capacity to thrive in a rapidly changing environment; excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 

Salary: $57,000-$63,000
