Description:

This position coordinates youth programs and services for the library system and serves as part of the library's leadership team. It oversees the summer learning program, including scheduling guest performers. It designs and executes programs and services that promote early literacy and library resources, including support for caregivers. The position is the key liaison with other community agencies serving youth to promote library services, programs, and resources. The Youth Services Coordinator assists the Program Outreach Manager in the development of collaborative programs and partnerships with schools and other community organizations serving youth including working with schools to align outreach programs and services with learning outcomes and objectives. The Youth Services coordinator plans and coordinates children's author visits and is responsible for securing/overseeing grant programs related to youth services.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is required with a Master of Library Science degree preferred.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service if required.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated is expected.

Salary: $25.00/hour - $26.25/hour
