Description: Plans, organizes, and directs the overall activities of the Youth Services Department. Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates department employees, and provides effective leadership to independently performing professionals. Performs general departmental duties as required by the position including, but not limited to, collection development, general reference, and maintaining statistical profiles. Oversees the preparation of programming for children and their caregivers that includes Early Literacy, after-school and outreach programs, as well as other activities that support literacy. Develops plans for upcoming programming and assists with marketing and evaluating the effectiveness of presented programs. Assists the administration in establishing goals, plans, procedures, and objectives of the Library System.
Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution with at least two (2) years of professional library experience. Certification by the North Carolina Public Library Certification Board. North Carolina driver’s license acquired within 30 days of employment. Drug test before employment.
Salary: $42,000/yr
