Description: In a Regional Library, Youth Services Librarians have the primary responsibility of providing programs and services in a Youth Services department. Department Managers rely on Librarians to develop, promote and present programs in one of the following four age groups: Baby and Toddler (babies and walkers to age 3), Preschool/Young School Age (3 yrs to 2nd grade), School Age (3rd-5th graders), Teen (6th to 10th graders). All Young Child programs are based on the pre-literacy skills of Every Child Ready to Read. Depending on the age group assigned, Librarians can expect to deliver between 2-7 weekly programs with support from Library Assistants. Librarians work on a public service desk providing excellent customer service. They assist members with reference, readers’ advisory, and computer questions, and are responsible for the maintenance and merchandizing of areas of the library collection. Librarians serve as “Manager on Duty” in the absence of the library manager(s).

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA-accredited program or NC program.

Salary: $20.19-$27.26 / hour
