Description: Forsyth County Public Library has exciting opportunities for enthusiastic library professionals to plan and develop youth services programming while also serving the general public in a branch library. Youth Services Librarians are responsible for the provision of library services for all ages in the branch library to include circulation, reference, reader’s advisory and overall customer service. This position plans, publicizes, prepares and performs weekly story times for preschool children and regular programs for youth from birth to teen including music and movement, summer reading and teen programs. Collection development responsibilities include serving on the JSWAT team to select materials for youth for all library locations and collection maintenance at the branch library. This position will assist customers with public computers, online assistance, downloading materials and general computer questions. All library staff are hired with the understanding that hiring decisions are governed by a flexibility clause with regard to library location.
Qualifications: Master of Library Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA accredited library school. Must obtain certification of the North Carolina Public Librarian Certification Commission. Prefer working knowledge of current office technology and software, library online databases, ILS systems and the Internet.
Salary: $40,601.47 - $46,691.69
