Description: Youth Services Librarians develop, promote and present programs for the young child through school-age/teen. The Librarian working with the young child can expect to deliver multiple weekly programs with support from Library Assistants. The Librarian working with school-age children can expect to deliver a weekly dynamic school age program for K-5, and work with teens through the Teen Leadership Corps, also with the support of Library Assistants. Additionally, Librarians work on a public service desk providing excellent customer service. They assist members with reference, readers’ advisory, and technical assistance, and are responsible for the maintenance and merchandising of areas of the library collection. Librarians in all WCPL libraries serve as “Manager on Duty” in the absence of the library manager(s). On the system level, Librarians collaborate with Managers and other Librarians on system programs and initiatives.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA-accredited program or NC program.
Salary: $20.19-$27.26 / hour
