Library & Cultural Resources Director - Farmville Public Library

Description: Provides leadership in the planning, organizing, and directing of the Town’s public library services for the citizens of Farmville and the surrounding communities. Oversees library staff providing informational and recreational materials in a variety of formats for check out and research. Evaluates the effectiveness of public library services; establishes new and revised services in response to changing needs of community; delegates library operations, duties, and responsibilities to appropriate staff; and supervises their performance. Promotes community awareness of library’s mission and goals. Provides public services as needed, including issuing library cards and providing reference service. Oversees completion of regular maintenance and cleaning procedures and attends to all necessary repair and service needs for the building and grounds. Directly supervises all staff. Reports to the Town Manager and performance is evaluated on the basis of attainment of individual and departmental performance objectives, feedback from the public served, periodic conferences, and personal observation.

Qualifications: Master of Library Science and meet the qualifications for NC Public Librarian Certification. At least five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible and broadbased professional experience in library services administration or management.
