Cotina has worked in libraries since 1997. She has worked as a public library branch manager and part time reference librarian. She has also served as a school librarian. In 2004 she transitioned to academic libraries and worked in this capacity for 12 years. In 2016 she returned to her first love, public libraries, as Deputy Library Director.
Cotina coordinates State Aid and State Aid grants and provides leadership for statewide programs that work in partnership with local communities and others to extend and develop public library service in the State. She supervises Library Development staff who are responsible for LSTA grants, public library management, continuing education, youth services, e-resources, data analysis and communication, public librarian certification, and NC Cardinal.
