Food Education Consultant Rebecca Antill will provide in-person workshops on how to plan and deliver food & cooking programs for libraries of all sizes, featuring how to do so with minimal kitchen access. As a former librarian, Rebecca will offer hands-on learning that will equip library staff to offer food programming at their libraries. Basic health and safety information, kitchen classroom management, culinary skills and community partners will all be discussed as participants cook and share time together.

You Can Do IT Technology Training 

Led by Carson Block, this hands-on training will familiarize participants with the Toward Gigabit Libraries Toolkit and help realize an improvement of the library’s networking capacity to complete a broadband improvement plan and use that knowledge to take advantage of E-rate funding, technology grant opportunities, and the services offered by the NC Broadband Infrastructure Office. One printed copy of the Toward Gigabit Libraries revised toolkit (v. 1.5) will be provided to each participating library system.

This virtual session will guide teen librarians on how to help break through that fear by making “flopping” fun. Flow Circus will introduce librarians to the flop ball; this simple, yet challenging skill toy has players using the back of their hands to throw and catch - a slight change that requires a shift in mindset and the player to pay attention in a new way. During the process, Flow Circus will provide strategies to help empower players to get out of their own way and ask for help when they need it.
