What can I do with my library card?

  • Borrow items from the SLNC Government & Heritage Library's circulating NC government, culture, and history collection.   
     
  • Access online resources and databases offered by the SLNC Government & Heritage Library and NC LIVE. Check our Online Resources web page to determine access availability. (Note that some databases are only available on-site at the library. The SLNC Government & Heritage Library Card does not provide access to Libby or Overdrive.)

How do I get a card?

  • Fill out the library card application form online. You will receive your card number in an email along with information on how to use your card. If you would like to receive your physical library card and check out print books at the SLNC Government & Heritage Library, please visit the library at 109 East Jones St. Raleigh, NC 27601 with your state issued identification to pick up your card.
     
  • You may also visit the library in person to fill out a library card application. Remember to bring your state issued identification card with you so that you can receive your physical library card.
     
  • To obtain a library card that will allow you to check out books from your local public library, contact your library directly:
