Description: The Archives Assistant position assists archives staff with basic archival functions such as processing, preservation, reference, outreach, advocacy, scanning, typing, filing, etc. The objective is to help increase availability of research material through preservation, outreach, and instruction. This position will: Process physical and digital archive collections under the general direction of the archivist; Create and update finding aids and reference guides; maintain computerized databases such as ArchivesSpace and LibGuides; Perform cataloging of archival collections per archival standards using tools such as Google Drive, ArchivesSpace and ContentDM; Migrate photographs, audio/visual and other documents into digital formats; Respond to inquiries and requests via phone and e-mail; serve as informational resource to employees, students, and the public; Assist in activities related to marketing and promoting the college archives; Assist in instructional research classes for patrons; Monitor inventory of supplies and other materials needed to operate.
Qualifications: Mimimum: Associate Degree, intermediate Microsoft Office skills and two years of work experience in a library or archive setting. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, History or related field. Experience working in an academic library setting. Experience working with archival or special collections.
Salary: $34,845 (starting)
