Description: The Jackson County Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and energetic candidate to fill the position of Assistant County Librarian. Jackson County Library is a member of Fontana Regional Library, a public library system with six member libraries providing service in Jackson, Macon and Swain counties. The ideal candidate for the Assistant County Librarian will provide service with a friendly and helpful attitude and thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Responsibilities include assisting the County Librarian in the management, supervision, and administration of the libraries within the County. The Assistant County Librarian coordinates a wide variety of library programs and services, oversees the development of library collections, and coordinates facility and equipment maintenance and operations. The Assistant County Librarian works cooperatively with staff throughout Fontana Regional Library to plan, implement, and evaluate long and short-term goals and objectives.
Qualifications: ALA- accredited MLIS and NC Public Librarian Certification, three years’ public library experience and customer service experience, and one year’s supervisory experience. The candidate should have effective written and verbal communication skills; leadership skills; a planning and information technology background. Experience with Friends organizations and local governing agencies is helpful.
