Description: The Assistant State Librarian functions as Chief Operating Officer for the State Library with direct daily oversight of and responsibility for the State Library's human resources management (approximately 70 employees), budget management (state budget and federal grant funds), facilities operations (two facilities in Raleigh), and procurement activities. This position leads and supervises the administrative office team, and communications team. This position is responsible for State Library operations in the absence of the State Librarian and is a member of the State Library's senior management team which provides strategic leadership for the State Library and the programs and services offered by the SLNC Government & Heritage Library, the SLNC Accessible Books and Library Services, and SLNC Library Development. This position ensures that Library policies and procedures are consistent and state government and DNCR policy and practices and support the State Library's strategic goals.
Qualifications: Master's degree in library and information science or a related discipline (M.B.A., M.P.A., etc.) from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of professional librarian experience, three of which should have been in a supervisory, consultative, or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary: $61,209 - $100,000
