About the Author 

Jay Barnes is a hurricane historian and has lectured widely on U.S. hurricanes. He is a graduate of NC State University's College of Design and holds a master's degree in advertising from Syracuse University. He was Director of the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores for more than 20 years and now lives in Raleigh, where he is President & CEO of the nonprofit North Carolina Aquarium Society.
