Description: The Office of Foundation Relations and Strategic Partnerships initiates and builds strategies for Duke Health to effectively partner with foundations. The Development Associate will conduct research, monitor funding trends, and compile and analyze information about prospective organizational funders (foundations and companies) to identify foundations and grant opportunities that potentially align with Duke Health priorities and areas of strength. Other key duties include developing robust briefing materials, talking points and other information to prepare fundraisers, leaders, and faculty members for meetings and other interactions with representatives from foundations; meeting with faculty members, independently and in conjunction with fundraisers, to discuss specific projects and funding needs and to provide resources and guidance to support their identification of prospective funders; and helping create, implement and actively manage processes to record and monitor grant reporting deadlines, and other stewardship and communication requirements.
Qualifications: Completion of Bachelor's degree program and two years of related experience, or master's degree. Experience in identifying and researching foundations and grant opportunities, supporting faculty members in grant writing, development experience in a higher education or health care setting, and/or degree in library science, information science or related field preferred.
