Description: This Children’s Librarian position is based out of Rowan Public Library’s South Branch located in China Grove. This role requires the application of professional library techniques and may supervise the daily operations and services of a library service desk, division, or branch, including but not limited to, providing personal assistance to users in pursuit of information; promoting and facilitating access to information; assisting users with library computers and related technology and equipment; instructing users in the use of library equipment and electronic resources; preparing and presenting programs and library tours for children and their families, teens, and/or adults; assisting with publicizing those programs and tours; providing reference and reader’s advisory service; curating bibliographies for reader’s advisory; developing an assigned collection area and assisting with collection maintenance, shelf reading, and weeding; and providing directional and other information regarding the use of library facilities, services, and collections. Evening and weekend work required.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or comparable degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Experience working with the public in a library, valid driver’s license, and NC Public Library Certification eligibility preferred.
Salary: $45,700 - $50,200
