Description: Plans and directs the County Library services designed to meet a variety of community needs and interests. This employee will possess strong leadership skills and is a resourceful and creative problem solver. The employee should also have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working through conflict. Employee must be a strong collaborator and committed to providing people-centered services and technology enhancements. Work includes long and short-range planning including facilities and technology expansion, establishment of goals, identification and development of funding sources, fiscal planning and administration, collections development, management and administration of the daily operations, public relations activities and establishment of policies, procedures, and work standards. Independent judgment and initiative are required, as well as tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public.
Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from an accredited ALA library school and considerable professional experience in library administration with some managerial and supervisory experience. Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License upon hire. Must possess NC Public Librarian Certification from the State Library of NC upon hire.
Salary: $76,372 - $84,009
