Description: Plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day operations of the county library program that is designed to meet the variety of community needs and interests. Work includes long- and short-range planning, including facilities and technology expansion, establishment of goals, identification and development of funding sources, fiscal planning and administration, collections development, and management and administration of the daily operations and public relations activities. The employee is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a staff of six full-time and four part-time employees. The employee is responsible for development and presentation of the annual budget proposal and monitors all assigned line items to ensure budget discipline is maintained. Employee reports to the Assistant County Manager and serves as an ex-officio member of the local Friends of the Library Board and as the staff liaison to the Person County Library Advisory Board. Work is evaluated through meetings, monthly reports and public feedback.
Qualifications: Master's Degree - library science from accredited ALA library school, considerable professional experience in library administration with some managerial and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of, or eligible for, NC Public Librarian Certification. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
