Description: Under general supervision, performs specialized library work assisting in planning and organizing individualized or small group classes to community members who need access to affordable home internet, affordable internet capable devices, and/or coaching in introductory digital skills in order to become effective internet users. Employee must exercise initiative, independent judgment, self-organization, and flexibility. Employee must also have the ability to demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and provide excellent customer service. Reports to the Youth Services Manager. The Digital Navigator’s work towards equitable internet access is part of the State Library of North Carolina’s efforts to enrich the lives of North Carolinians through access to information resources, strengthen communities through exceptional library services, and inspire and support lifelong learning for all North Carolinians. This position is 28 hours per week and funded through September 2023.

Qualifications: Graduation from High School and working with the public in a Library setting; college degree preferred; or a graduate student registered in a Master’s in Library Science program; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. NC Driver’s License. Evening/weekend work.

Salary: $17.85 / hour
