Part 2: Managing Patron Challenges from a Trauma-Informed Lens for Library Administrators
This webinar is largely focused on developing and practicing skills for working through patron challenges and setting boundaries/enforcing policies from a trauma-informed librarianship lens. This 90-minute webinar discusses trauma and how it impacts both patrons and staff in a library setting, the six guiding principles of trauma-informed care, and how they can be applied in a library setting for the benefit of both patrons and staff.
Additional content will be shared on activities that administrators can do in their library to support staff and reduce the impact of work-related trauma and stress, including best practices for establishing behavioral policies and training staff on processes for handling inappropriate patron behavior, and how to begin peer support or reflective practice groups for staff.
