Description: Working closely with the Head of Archival Processing and the Head of Bibliographic Cataloging as well as other staff in the section, the Processing Assistant supports the arrangement and description of archival record groups and manuscript collections in all formats, including photographic images and audio-visual items, by preparing newly acquired and backlog materials for use in Wilson Library’s reading room. This includes foldering and boxing materials, transcribing information from original enclosures, creating inventories, numbering, labeling boxes and enclosures, shelving materials in Wilson Library’s stacks, and recording shelf locations in a tracking database.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Library Science, or related fields. Previous academic library and technical services experience. Familiarity with archival research. Demonstrated experience with components of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and other library software systems.
