Description: This position serves as a member of the management team and supervises and manages the daily functions of the main library branch within the County. Employee participates in the annual budget and planning processes, policy and procedures development and modification, and implementation of any new services and programs with the main library branch. Work focuses on providing children and adult focused programs, community outreach, collection development, genealogical and NC history services, circulation services, technology services, and all the back office technical services associated with the library. Management of the branch includes proper staffing and scheduling, ensures the adult and children’s collections and programming are meeting the needs of patrons, monitoring all purchasing and budget expenditures of the branch. Employee is also responsible for the hiring, training, performance evaluation of assigned full/part-time staff. Work includes tasks such as promoting Library public relations and educational activities, ensuring the continuing operation of the library’s information system; coordinating staff development and training activities; and maintaining working relationships and activities with the Library Advisory Board as well as patrons, community groups and vendors. The employee researches and recommends programs and objectives, assists in planning programs and services to meet the library’s needs and interests, and serves in the absence of the Library Director. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the Library Director, and is evaluated through conferences, reports, quality and quantity of services delivered and daily observation.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited professional library school with a master’s degree in library science and considerable professional experience in management and customer service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills.
Salary: $55,407 - $ 68,600
