Youth Services Manager - Gaston County Public Library

Description: Coordinate and promote a system-wide approach to youth services across 10 library locations. Provide story time training and early literacy advisory to all locations. Create an annual school visit plan and summer reading program, designing records and documents, purchasing supplies, coordinating evaluative reports, and communicating with children’s staff and branch managers. Supervise daily operations of the Youth Services Section at the Main Library. Create and coordinate daily scheduling relating to programming, public service and project assignments. Supervise staff of two librarians and one part-time paraprofessional. Promote library advocacy by partnering with community organizations to provide program outreach to daycares, schools, community events and local committees focused on youth services. Perform collection development and maintenance to maintain a timely & relevant collection for youth services across the system. Assist in maintaining the Main Library building security as supervisor in charge of opening and closing as scheduled.

Qualifications: Masters degree in Library or Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution. 3-5 years professional library experience, with at least 2 years of experience with children’s programming and services. Must hold, or meet requirements to hold a NC Public Librarian Certification. Knowledge of early literacy . Strong leadership skills.

Salary: $47,746 - $75,962
