Description
This position serves as the Children’s Librarian, is based out of RPL South (China Grove), and participates in a lead librarian duty rotation at RPL West (Cleveland). This position reports to the Branch Operations Manager. This position performs multi-faceted professional library work; provides personal
assistance to users in pursuit of information; plans, prepares, and presents programs and library tours for children and their families, teens, and/or adults; identifies, initiates and develops community partnership opportunities; determines user needs and assists in developing ways to improve branch services; assists with collection maintenance; and performs related duties as assigned; evening and weekend work required. Must be enthusiastic, customer driven, solution focused, and team centered.
Qualifications
Requires knowledge of library principles, practices, procedures, and resources including reference and circulation resources and services, cataloging and classification systems, and technology resources and skills, and the ALA's Core Competencies. Requires ability to exercise initiative and judgment; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in library science and/or Information Science or equivalent combination of education and experience; ALA accredited degree preferred. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience working with the public in a library and North Carolina Public Library Certification eligibility preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
Salary: $49,500 - $54,400 (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available.
